Got my Discovery booked in for an MOT tomorrow morning, been doing lots of work on suspension and now the horn's stopped working and the SRS light is on the dash. I know these are both now failures, I also know (or rather am largely sure) that the issue is with the contact ring behind the wheel.

However, I'm going to disconnect the airbag anyway (don't like them) and turn off the light, and for the sake of just getting the damned thing through an MOT am going to wire the horn into a switch on the dash.

Does anyone know where the connection is when the cowling trim is removed behind the wheel and/or what colour the wires are so I can route them to a switch and get it through an MOT at last!

Ta muchly :)

Just locate the horn relay and earth the terminal with an purple/orange wire and they should sound, the relay which is according to my books is yellow can be found behind the passenger footwell kick panel.

Disconnecting and removing the air bag or replacing the steering wheel won't turn off of the srs lamp you will have to remove the ecu also, or plug-in the likes of testbook or similar.

The lamp is easily turned off by removing the bulb mind ;)

Hmmm, may look for the relay in the footwell then, but was hoping to just splice straight off the wires behind the wheel to a push button.
