Hey all, I am currently replacing the head gasket on my 300tdi. I bought this one:
https://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/lvb500200-head-gasket-c2x28815408

from Turners. On inspection, it has holes around the edge of the gasket that are not present on the old composite gasket (which looks like this).

Circled in red are the extra holes:

It looks like those holes will be on the outside of the head when fitted, so I don't think there should be any problems with leaks? Are there two different types of gaskets, different head designs over the years?

I got confused because this video appears to show a leak from one of the protruding holes around the edge.

Just looking for some confirmation that it's ok to use this gasket before I go putting it all back together.

Thanks

If you got it from Turner, I doubt there will be a problem.

They know Land Rover engines inside out, been rebuilding them for decades.

Thanks for the replies guys! That makes sense that they are rivet holes! I did contact Turners and they got back to me 5 minutes later, and it was 9pm, great customer service!

Going to keep the Victor Reinz gasket and see if I can fit it this weekend

Just make sure all the head bolt threaded holes in the block are free of liquids.

Frida is constantly watching the emails and replies at all hours. She's extremely knowledgeable. You can't beat them for service, absolutely top drawer.

+1 re' Frida [and Richard], her knowledge is first rate and their friendliness is superb. Only other LR orientated company like this is YRM. Genuinely lovely people to buy from and first rate products/product supply.

Couldn't agree more. Bought all my engine rebuild components from Turner's and a lot of my Landy rebuild parts from YRM. Met the family at YRM when I went to pick some kit up - Fab people. Both Frida and Richard are happy to spend ages helping over the phone. That sort of service is rare these days.

I know this is an old thread but...
I just bought a bare complete cylinder head from Turner engineering.
It came with a 3 hole gasket, and my original one looks like a no hole gasket. So I may give them a shout. Good to know they're as well regarded as YRM, whole I've used often 👍
