Hi, does anyone know if the timing belt issues would have been sorted out by the time a 1997 'P' reg TDI was built. If not is there an easy way to tell if the modifications have been carried out... cheers

They should have been sorted by 1997. The tensioner was originaly in 2 pieces consisting of the pulley and a thick spacing washer.

The new pulley is in one piece. The washer forms part of the pulley. If you have the old style pulley and fit a new cambelt make sure that you do not use the old style washer with the new style pulley. It will chew up and snap the cambelt within a couple of hundred miles.

any ideas on what you think I should be paying for a 1997 300tdi, 100000 miles, needs rear wings welding and a full service ?

I think I'll be getting a bloody nose if I offer this chap 350 whats a realistic price :)

was a fair bit more that £350, but it's sound had a new gearbox and clutch 20,000 miles ago 2 new tyres and been well looked after... have to see what happens..either way I'm chuffed to bits as I've always wanted a landrover
