Disco 1 300tdi Thermostat Housing

Evening all, I have a rounded off bottom bolt on my thermostat housing. Is it possible to remove the whole housing from the head so that I can sort this out, without causing a major headache ?

yes,but if head is rounded hit it with a ball peen hammer until head mushrooms ensuring you can still hammer the socket on

Thank you James I will try that. If that doesn't work can i remove the whole housing to get it on the bench to cut it off and drill it out ?
