As always an otherwise simple job turns into something else. I need to change my stop solenoid, however I cannot get to it. Diagrams of the fuel pump do not show all this plastic around it, presumably some sort of anti-tamper thing. Is it removable? I cannot get the camera far enough away to focus properly but will add the pic shortly

It is indeed anti-tamper.

I broke it all away to get to the standard solenoid, but be careful, it's easy to go too hard at it!

it is part of the immobiliser system held on with two sheer screws and a little stirrup around the solenoid like this..

I have got am off by using a little sharp punch and tapping them round but access is difficult. If you not bothered about breaking it we used to use a tiny cutting disc (one inch) and cut thru downward just behind the heads of the sheer screws. you should have three wires going to it one of which has 12v with ignition on so just put a ring terminal on that one to 8 mm nut on top of solenoid and chuck the immobiliser unit in the bin.

I didn’t see any immobiliser stuff and the solenoid only had one wire going to it, just had the metal around it like some sort of clamp around the solenoid held by the sheer bolts. I think someone had been there before.

I got it all off with a hammer and screwdriver in the end, unafraid of the consequences lol
