5000 miles from engine rebuild an now hes got problems with over heating:eek:

first there was a slight leak an that was sorted

now it is not losing water but the water is being pushed from the head into the the expansion bottle, an boiling up, no water in thermostat housing,

water pump is ok, new themostat fitted, hoses ok, no air locks, sender is ok,
expantion bottle cap ok, radiator ok, heater plugs look ok ,nice an black,

is the head ****ed or the gasket.

not had it pressure tested yet, but theres no white smoke on acelleration

can any one give me any other ideas on what it could be?

I'm afraid redhand sums it up nicely - if you are positive there is no airlock then head or gasket must be f**ked .:D
About 1000 mls after replacing the head gasket on my sisters 300 Tdi it began acting like yours . Tried bleeding . new tstat etc - usual suspects .
Finally took the head off and discovered it was cracked - the crack began from where one of the heater plugs entered the combustion chamber .
Common problem I was told - new head , fine since ( 2 yrs on ) .;)
