Hi folks my disco is a bit low on power not expecting super car proformance but 3rd gear up hills is rubbish. After searching through the posts on here and have gathered a selection of parts to replace and clean.

Oils and fluids change +filters.
Egr bypass kit.
New fuel lift pump.
Clean intercooler and associated pipe work.
clean intake manifold.
Clean sediment bowl.
middle box removed.
cat type thingy removed.
May tweek fuel pump too.

what am I missing. Also is there anything to make a 300tdi manual go into limp mode. Usually a frontera driver
Cheers Dave.

Go through that list and you should see some improvement, especially the air filter, diesels like plenty of air.
Just a thought, what tyres do you have? very large tyres will affect acceleration through the gears quite a bit.

New filters and EGR bypass with do you wonders,

Tweek pump if you must, it does help but will involve alot of playing with to get it right

Tyres are standard ats no large tyres. Also got new pads and disks to put on ones on are all pitted and scored. Will probably do the fuel pump tweek last if it needs it. Is there a filter or anything in the tank that can get gunked up.

OK so that rule out wheel size issues, brakes are a good thought, but if a brake was binding enough to affect performance you would probably see smoke etc. I don't think there is a strainer in the tank, but that is a much later vehicle than I usually work on, not heard of it being an issue anyway, fuel filter and sedimenters often are. Personally I wouldn't play with the injection pump, unless you know exactly how, it is easy to do more harm then good.

Even concidered squished or perished fuel lines/leak off pipes. Presume theres no posh electrical magic that can put it limp mode my frontera does that ocasonaly iff we have been off roading and theres mud on a certain connector.

Have you done simple things like checking there are no splits or leaks in the turbo hoses?
Rev the engine and squeeze the top turbo pipe and you should feel it go hard under pressure. If not you have a leak so no turbo and the car will be very sluggish.

Thats one thing I haven't done completly slipped my mind. Will check when I get car back from the garage boot floor was a bit rusty decided to get it replaced before it gets too far.

Good idea, and check the hoses haven't collapsed internally. Also, came to me last night, setting the tappets should go on your list. they can affect performance too.

Tappets never done them in my life will refer to the big book of lies Haynes and dig some feeler gauges out. Will check hoses when I clean intercooler and inlet manifold out. Won't be till middle of September though when I finally get some time off work.
Plenty of easy and free checks to do there cheers
