anyone know of any intercooler removal and cleaning guides thats been put together? says on the weather it might not rain on saturday so i may get something done!:D

Its easy enough to get it out. Just undo the 2 intercooler hoses and the 4 bolts on the plate that covers the rad top and the whole thing lifts out. Some people say clean it out with petrol or Kerosene but you need to be 100% certain its all evaporated before putting it back on.

Don't know, I used Jizer on my inlet manifold and it did the trick. Why are you doing the intercooler? There is more likely to be gunge in the manifold (esp if you still have an EGR). I'd be interested to know how mucky the intercooler is. I did the manifold but didnt do the intercooler.

the egr is getting blanked at the weekend:) the intercooler must need a clean because the pipes are realy full of gueie black shte:(

True, but the main source of gue is the EGR putting exhaust into your inlet manifold where it is mixed with oil droplets from the breather. There may be some oily deposits in the intercooler but I reckon the manifold and EGR should be your first jobs. What do the rest of you think?

Question please
If I blank off my EGR does the inter cooler then become redundant or will it still be needed to cool (for example) the air from the turbo charger.

and please mr landyzone webby design geek type person, fit a spell check on this message box.

No NO NO I fear you have misunderstood. the egr recirculates the exhaust gases and unburnt fuel The intercooler supplies cooled air to the inlet manifold via the turbo. blanking the egr valve off just stops all the goo from going back into your engine

so is there any muck in the intercooler ?

and is it the manifold - the intercooler - or both that need to be done when fitting egr blanking kit?

was looking to do mine too the weekend !

the instructions that came today with the kit gave a step by step colour picture of how to fit blanking plate and top hose and what the replace and what to remove.

but no instructions/ or mention of what you needed to clean etc....!!!

have posted similar question earlier today but no suggestions yet...

is there need to do any thing???? getting as confused as daza by the sounds of it

please could some one explain what needs to be done

Hi, does a 200 tdi top hose fit the intercooler and inlet manifold on a 300tdi (getting rid of the egr completely). Cheers, hairy

you dont have to clean anything to blank the egr, however, if you wanna do a proper job you should.
Once you get that EGR off and see the crap left behind you'll wanna.
