Just been listenin ter me neighbour's 300TDi Disco.
He's got a rattle, which is more than the normal one you get from these injuns.
It sounds a bit like a loose tappet, but louder. Listening with a screwdriver, along the rocker cover, the tappets all sound the same, but moving the screwdriver lower down (injector level) the rattle is louder in the area of No 3 cylinder than the others.
The injun has done 80k and has been serviced regularly. It dunt use any oil or smoke abnormally.
My first thought was little end bearing, but that would be unusual I think?
Anyone got any ideas or other suggestions?
