Hi Guys wondering about some possiblities. I'm considering buying a new body/parts car for my venerable friend. The body is aging so would be nice to fond one in good shape. I currently have a 200tdi disco, I think its no problem to put 3 or 5 door 200 or 300tdi body on the chassis, but what else could I use form a 300. I know I can use the r380 trans and transfer, and the axles. Is it possible to convert a 300tdi engine into a 200tdi or do you need to install the 300tdi wireing loom to install the 300 motor? Has anyone done this conversion. Basically trying to deside do I need to sort the much harder to find in good shape 200 or can I use the easier to come by 300. Thanks allot for your opinions, cheers Jim

all the bodies will bolt straight on ,engine chassis mounts are different between the 2 either gearbox as they are the same dimensions, non edc 300s have the same electrical needs but wiring is different in lenght or connector but easy enough to make fit

Hi James Martin, thanks for the info on the 300's really usefull my last question is. Is it possible to change the engine mounts on the 300 engine so you can fit it on 200 chassis mounts? Like you can do with the r380 switching to lt77 mounts?

Please forgive a silly question, but why would you want to what basically sounds like, putting a 300 body engine and gearbox onto a 200 chassis.

Sorry if I am missing the point, surely it would be better to find a half descent 300 and make that good whilst still using the 200.

Hi Green Hornet a pretty valid point on the first glance. The reason I am asking is I have at present my pride and joy 200tdi, I intend to keep it for ever, not for 5 or 10 years but for ever, it will likely be my sons first car. So I want to buy a parts car to keep it going, that can be a 200 or a 300 (I am not fussed either way) but remember because of there age 300's are much easier to come by so I am working out if thats a good option. Also I live in Norway which has the highest tax on cars in the world, so even though my car is very old its still worth more then you would think, so its worth spending the money on a parts car to keep it going. If I was to go out and buy in norway or import a 300 to norway it would cost even more, the defining part of any car is the chassis. You are not alloud to change this in norway but as long as I look after my chassis I can replace all parts on it for ever, and its still defined as the orriginal car....trust me I have looked into this. Your point was well raised never the less. Cheers j

anythings possible ,but it wouldnt be as straight forward ,best is to swap chassis mounts, mouts also support flywheel housing and injection pump side has filter housing in the way
