300tdi head replacement

Hi all, am just after some help, Have had some issues with my 300tdi in a 98 disco one after it had a bit of a swim, building up lots of pressure in the coolant system and loss of heating, also been having intermittent power loss, I’m guessing it’s either a crack in the head or the head gasket gone so I was thinking of replacing the head and head gasket toghether, just wondering if anyone on here has any other suggestions of what It might be, And anyone got anything You should look out for when replacing the head and gasket

When my 200 engine had a swim it bent a conrod and seized, the best think would be to take the head off first and have a look could be lucky and just gasket blown.

Yeh that’s what I’m hoping it’s not, did you notice it straight away, mines has done about 200 miles since and been running okay up until the overheating

Compression test will tell you a lot without removing the head.
