is that pressure at the turbo or the inlet manifold?
a standard 300tdi runs 18-20psi @ the turbo normally anyway, thats a tasty intercooler though.

Just wondering what ways you can improve the oomph on a 300Tdi?

I've seen the intercoolers and perfomance hoses but has anyone fitted them? Do they make a big difference?

I've already turned up my fuel pump which helps on that initial stage of turbo lag.

Just wondering what esle you can do?

Cheers
Todd.

Hi my turbo conversion kit will soon be available and takes fitment of any turbocharger from a t2 through all the hybrids to a t3 also all the hybrids. I run a t3 hybrid not a variable vane they are rubbish and it is capable of well over 200bhp proven over 3000 miles not a single problem.......... Message me if you want any pics and further details I will be posting a vid once I've set it up properly its a bit lively at the moment to say the least.

200is, so its safe to turn up, the 300 is already higher, and generally thought best to leave alone.

Hi got to disagree I'm afraid. 3000 miles trouble free at well over 200bhp on a 300 tdi the horror stories about turning the boost up being a no no are not worth listening to if the engine is in a good state there is a huge amount of power that can be released I've proved it and sold the earlier conversion to a guy who races a 300tdi and hes amazed.A 300tdi engine will take over 30lbs of boost no problem 20 to 23 gives more power than you will believe in a landrover its great fun when you just overtake quick cars easily.:)

Get an intercooler tweak your pump mine runs at 20psi is fast and torquey as fcuk

Nice cooler same as mine ....Just designed turbo conversion number 2 and its insane will post some pics later t3 hybrid external gate etc what a monster you'll love it its proper mental boosted off a 30psi gauge on first run needs turning down and setting up yet. love your truck twin fans in front of the cooler works well.:)

Thing is that if you go for too big a turbo you end up with lag hence the hybrids/mods. How is the t3 modded? The general rule is more power = more lag so you need to increase the power then reduce the lag to be the same or better using other methods. For the best performance you need to combine several mods such as turbo/fueling/intercooler/filter/fuel pump/head etc

Will be interesting to see your manifold/mods.

go twin or quad turbos - much better :)

The 300tdi runs 1 bar standard boost on the tiny nearly non existing turbo but can be turned up despite the horror stories.Im afraid alot of people pretend to be experts on these type subjects based on other peoples advice my advice is based on 20+ years of designing race turbos and modifying vehicles to simply produce more power safely.I have spent over a year modifying my 300tdi and have run 35lbs of boost on initial setup and the results were astounding 20 to 23lbs will give you awesome results but you won@t get a standard turbo to run that high mine runs a t3 hybrid with many other mods and the kits will be available from myself shortly. I will upload some pics soon of my engine bay just been busy and only signed onto here today.....need any more help just ask...

What do you specifically mean by t3 hybrid i.e. change of one or both fans/bearings etc? Have you modded the t3 or is it purchased/modded elsewhere.

the turbo spec is very important and takes a lot of years testing which I have done mine runs with nearly no lag and climbs boost until the level set. It runs an external wastegate, screamer pipe full stainless system along with other mods included a re worked fuel pump. Not tweaked re designed internally by myself and the engine is stock at the moment and never missed a beat and egt is no problem. I will be rebuilding my next engine and modding all the internals shortly ready for a stage 3 conversion in my p38 range rover it should push 300bhp easily. ps my manifold is converted by my own design of convertor to take all t2 turbos including hybrids through to t3 including all hybrids whatch later for pics. Some stuff though is just a secret:whoosh:

Sorry forgot to answer your question about my turbo mods.My turbo conversions use turbos built to my spec bearings, shafts, housing sizes and trim are specific to the conversion I build and are specific to the purpose they are to be used from down to what transfer box you run. We will be advertising several specs of kit and tune when our website is up and running shortly. There are specific units for towing, hillcliming, sprints etc I will try to put up some photos of my engine bay in my daily drive later if I get chance.

Added a couple of pics today check them out not finished yet though......

pah thats nothing, the turbo on my l200 4d56 is presently running at 3.0 bar (thats 43.5 psi to you of imperial nature)

Out of curio what was the max egt at them boost pressure with the tweaked pump?
