300tdi engine from a 1997 discovery with 141k on the clock. Runs well with no smoke. No turbo, alternator or starter but just had (literally today) a genuine land rover head gasket fitted. I have a video of it running. £350 Ono.

Gearbox and transfer box from the same. The discovery drive really nicely with no crunching into second and high, low and diff lock engaged easily. Will need a new reverse light switch as wires are broken. £150 Ono.

Both are for collection from near Hull E Yorks.

Tel 07545 999273.

It is or nearest offer. I thought these sold for about £450 complete???

Trouble is getting turbo etc and gaskets and fitting all robbed bits will cost a fortune so peeps go for a complete engine unless its cheap

Same opinion and I'm notoriously tight even compared to you:jaw:

Is the gearbox the R380? Do you know the serial number so I can check if it would go on a 300TDI defender? Are will able to budge on the price?

Where do I find the serial number? Make me an offer.

I've no idea where the serial number is :D

If it will fit on my Defender then I as very interested. Did you re-use the clutch or replace it with a different one? How many miles had it done/what state is it in?

This is the R380 box?

Yes it's an R380. The box is still in the vehicle at the mo. it's out of a 1997 disco with 141k on the clock. Drove really nicely without the common crunching into 2nd gear.

Thanks. I didn't realise they were not the same so didn't check. I assumed they probably would be because I've seen numerous discovery to defender transfers but thought I'd just check

The transfer box is interchangeable LT230

The 5 speed box is different bell housinglength and input shaft as far as I remember.
