stuck it into a what?

I don't expect it given ;)

it just may well be :D (where are you!?)

ok guys, first up- thanks for reading the wanted and secondly, for taking the time to reply!

while I'm not operating as a garage or trader, I am probably a bit more adept than the usual enthusiast. I will be making beer money with this as its a motor that's come in to the workshop via word of mouth, from a friend of a friend thing.

I need to account for distance collecting an engine, as well as the fitting, and the risk of buying unknown, coupled with what the chap that owns it is prepared to pay. :D
he was expecting a head swap, not a cracked liner, but I told him months ago to expect problems if he didn't sort the overheating issue.

so, to the bottom line- what do you guys want for the engines / disco?
answers by pm if you wish :D

ps- if it was my motor, yes, I'd be haggling :D

cheers once again

you can have my 300tdi with no turbo or alternator for £300….
come over one saturday and have a tinker with it first….. :D

removed from a customer car as he wanted a 200 fitted after the head gasket went on this one , was running with the blown head gasket but as head was cracked it has been replaced, engine is from a 97" disco, cant tell you if it has offroad use in the past, but looking at the vehicle I would say not has done around 120000 miles

A bit off topic but interested as to what you did to fit a 200 in place of a 300?
Did you need to change engine mounts etc?
Did you also use the 300 turbo on the 200?

Cheers

Local has a block for £130, head was cooked but block was decent so they kept it

cheers, will bear this in mind.

to all other postees/respondants-

spoke to owner this aft, and his response was "dunno if I can afford that at mo, but I might be looking at one for 200 quid tomorrow"

so, on my behalf, thanks to everyone for replying, and if I need to persue this i'll get back in touch. don't hold anything specifically for me, if I call and its gone then its his loss.
he knows the risks and if he provides an engine i'll fit it regardless of the consequences.

I thank you all for taking the time to reply.

nrg.

t'was a bastard to be honest

i made new mounts for the discovery round type engine mounts , kept the same gearbox and position, used a disco 200 rad and exaust setup complete and kept the 200 turbo

fuel pipes are different so used the 300 lift pump

moest of the 300 wiring went in the bin and just used basic wiring for the 200 to match the 300 gauges

any other questions ? happy to answer :)

Not sure if you are still looking after your last post, but i have a complete disco 300tdi needing boot welding and rear x member, great chassis and runs great, would break it myself but don't have the space or time, looking for £500 ono.

No worries if your not looking anymore, Car is located in mid wales, so also understand if its too far.

I'm keeping an open mind till the things out of the workshop ;)

cheers for replying :D
edit-
what colour is it, and is there any tax and test on it to be able to drive it back? (wouldn't be an issue as could trailer it if needed)
another mate enquired for body panels.

Hi,

What are the sticking points that made it difficult?

I have 300tdi disco and a spare 200tdi engine so maybe the way to go if it is a fairly easy mod! Fitting new engine mounts isnt really a problem. I am fairly handy with electrics. Maybe fit a 200 temporarily until i source a 300.

pm sent ref your 300 also though!

Cheers.
