fairly new to posting lol I have a late (1999) t reg discovery 1 NOT a td5 and I cant select diff lock but I can get high and low range I have removed the centre console and the rubber gaiter to expose the top of the transfer box/linkage and can see levers operating high/low range am I right in assuming that the pin passing through the middle of the splined collar is the pin that operates the diff lock if so this has had most of Staffordshire's supply of penetrating fluid applied to it over the last couple of days and still wont budge now thinking about applying some gentle pressure with a very big hammer  or is there a possibility that this model doesn't in fact have diff lock  any advice would be tremendously welcomed

had a look at that thanks and its not really of much help it does confirm the movement. The 13mm nut is free and moves with a spanner on it. It appears that the pin as per vid is truly stuck fast its this that i'm wondering if it can have some pressure applied to it with no detrimental effect

your a gent I have been looking at removing the housing but same as you I was worried that on removal of the last bolt it would result in spring explosion lol that is tomorrow night sorted now will keep you posted many thanks

its easy now you have got this far, get it out and on the bench so you can give it a good sort out and free up the pin.

i hit it with big hammer then worked it with a 22mm ring spanner lots of Wd40 it took an hour, clearly the diff lock and high low had never been used.

i owe you a brew :tea: alloy and steel never mix took it off earlier and with plenty of wd and a good whack with a hammer did the job followed by plenty of working in and out and more lube(neighbour's are now fairly worried lol) I now have a working diff lock

its the small things in life
