Good morning.

So heres the story of my problem.

Went out in my defender last week and it was running fine. went out in it today and as i came to turn into a road and change down in to 2nd i bump started the engine! as i changed up to 3 the power was very week and then picked up ok.
I turned round to go home and if i was moving along and went out of gear to coast in natural it cuts out and i would bump it. i got home and i cut out. tried starting it and it would not start. tried again after a few minutes looking under the bonnet it started after turning over about 8 times. normally it fires up on the button!

every thing under the bonnet looks fine.

HELP HELP HELP

Cheers tor the help Flossie.

I have just been and got a filter and i have took the old one off.

When i took the filter off it dint seem very full. i did not spill a drop when taking it off and poured the diesel in to a clean jug.

maybe the lift pump can't fill the filter fast enough?

part full fuel filter = duff lift pump or air leaking into system IME.

LP can be duff due it being broken/worn out, or sedimenter is blocked and LP not able to pull fuel through ... worth putting a piece of clear pipe in the system to see if there are any bubbles about

Ok guys the story so far

New lift pump new filter and i still did it. I drove on the same road as i did this morning and it stalled in the same place!

Next i made a fuel tank out of a jerry can to eliminate any dirt in the tank. the problem is still there.

So my next job is to put a clear pice of pipe as Disco1BFG suggest. i think the best place is from the lift pump to the filter and from the filter to the injector pump.

Cheers lads
