Hi, my 97 auto has a very bad tickover when warm nearly stalling and a misfire on a steady light throttle. Under load it's fine and starts instantly hot or cold. It's not overheating and sounds ok. I've just bought it and it had been unused with nearly no diesel in for a few months, parked on a steep driveway. It seems to be worse if I go up any inclines off road. Any ideas guys?

Mine did that when the lift pump gave out. Fire her up and crack the bleed valve on the top of the fuel filter, if no fuel comes out because theres no pressure then its probably the culprit

bleed at front banjo (where pipe enters pump )its better than filter for pump ,check pipe on passenger side coming out of sender unit on top of tank under cover in boot

Thanks everyone, I changed the air and fuel filters, cleaned out the sedimenter bowl, blew out the fuel lines and bled everything (twice). Still no joy! In desperation I have just wiggled all the wires under the bonnet and as I fiddled with the multi plug near the fuel pump she started to run right. No idea if it's coincidence or not but fingers crossed!
