Hi there fellow Land Rover fans. This is my 3rd Discovery and all 3 of them are throwing new tricks at me. This one is a 1997 300tdi ES Auto. Two days ago the whole car was vibrating on the way home from my Mum's and has dont it since. Its faily gentle but noticable when idling down the road but when you excellerate its gets stronger. Today I have had the front wheels balanced and the discs and pads checked at a local garage but this has not sorted the problem. Does anyone have any ideas to what it could be. The vibrations continues when I put it in Nuetral and continue coasting. She does have spaceship miles, just over 200k but does not smoke and no wines from the transfer box's. I have noticed a leak on the front passengers swivel ball joint.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers Paul, much appreciated. The Donut looks fine, had to change that on my last 300tdi. But I have just ordered a UJ off ebay so fingers crossed, just hope it not to tricky to change

no oil/ oneshot in the swivel,
swivel bearings shot,
prop shaft bolts loose or you've lost the weight off the prop shaft

Cheers Nick as it goes the front passenger Ball Swivel is seeping oil? Hadnt thought about the prop shaft weight.
Will get under and have a look. They did say when they checked the balancing that there was a little play in the front wheel bearings

Might be worth taking the props off and checking they still slide in and out correctly, this way you can also check that the UJ's haven't seized. Other things to check might be wheel bearings, harmonic balancer, all suspension bushes, dampers, etc

Could also be the clutch alignment or bearing gone, indeed anything in the drivetrain.

LOL, maybe not ... ;)

OK, it's an auto, all bets are off .. could be anything between the wheels ... ;)
