Hello All,

I have a 300tdi Auto which yesterday on the M6 dropped all its gearbox oil. Are there any common seals that go? The suspect area is around the lower oil cooler pipe but I have taken this off and it all looks OK, next is to have a look at the dip stick tube. It must have been a significant leak as EVERYWHERE under the vehicle is covered with oil including up the back meaning it must have been under considerable pressure, but then an auto gearbox would be.

The other question is is,is the torque converter a sealed unit or when filling back up with oil will I have to account for that as well? I am going to put some UV die in it to see if I can trace the leak but hopefully someone can help with a pointer?

top cooler pipe ?oil is circulated through the t/c when engines running, a leak with engine running would lose more oil than a hole in the sump with engine off, usually as you cant drain the residual oil out of t/c when oil changing tyou can only change about 4.5 litres of oil out of 9 litres box holds

input seal could be the issue in that case if leak is at the front
ps check cooler pipe crimp connectors for the steel to rubber hose joints

Hi Again, how on earth do you get the gearbox oil pan bolt out that's by the gearbox mount?

Anyone help with where the fill plug is on the gearbox?
