Hi Folks,

I have recently bought a 96 Disco. The front passenger door lock was on the way out so I replaced it with another one yesterday.

However this morning I have gone to open the door and I can't. I have tried to open the door from the inside as well as the outside. I have also tried with the button being held up just in case but that is not working either.

Has this happened to anyone else? or can someone advise me what to do?

The main problem as well with the door being stuck shut I can't take the internal panel off to have a look inside either.

Cheers

Lee

Hi, from what I remember with my previous Disco (similar problem) there is a small spring behind the door card on each door for each lock mechanism and this is a weak point. Of course this doesn't help when you're locked on the outside but when you get the chance it may pay you to look into this item. They are available through ebay for around £2 if memory serves me.

As you have to inspect behind the doors anyway then it won't hurt to check this item on your vehicle...and yes, the spring breaking/malfunctioning is a common problem.

This spring is the difference between the interior lift up button on the door lifting all the way and not! The button sounds to me like it isn't lifting high enough to release the door mechanism.
