Hi folks,

My landy is stuck in high ratio, I've tried all the usual stuff (taking the carpet up and checking for crap in the linkage etc.) I've changed the oil in the gearbox/transfer box, I'm not really sure what to do next. Had a quick search but couldn't see anything that matched my (current!) problem. Any help or links hugely appreciated.

Cheers

It seems to be, it appears to be free to move, but just doesn't change through the box. I'm a transfer/gearbox novice, I just wanted to make sure that i'd checked everything I could before I take it to the landy man and get humiliated again!

If you unbolt the transmission tunnel, which should come out fairly easily, you can see the entire linkage. Then you should be able to see which bit moves, or not. Try dousing it in WD40 also, this may help free up stick bits.

try putting the main gearbox (1 to 5) in first with the clutch depressed down! try pushing forward on the hi lo lever low forward hi backward lo, whilst raising the clutch pedal slowly

Hi,

tried what you suggested, but it feels rock solid. I'm beginning to think its more jammed/buggered that just sticky. I'll give it another go tomorrow after I've taken it for a run (I know, bugger all reason for it to make any difference, but there's a slim chance if its warm it might cooperate more!).

Thanks for the suggestion though.
cheers
