300 to td5

ok folks here's one for you

has anybody ever considered or tried fitting a 300 tdi motor in a td5
i know what your thinking have i lost the plot , well here's why
when i had my first td5 3 yrs ago she looked the bizz but i had nothing but grief for 12 months with overheating and electrics .
so i off loaded it for my 300 tdi and for 2 yrs its been faultless except rear prop coupling and a 2nd gear syncro which never bothered me
but the body is shot so i have gone out and picked up another td5 on a 02 plate , so here's my thinking ( if and i mean if i get kicked in the teeth ) again is the above question possible could i fit a 300 tdi engine in the td5 without to much trouble , if i'm right my biggest challange would be the electronics ,

so fire away people advice or discourage

Another thought has anyone fitted the 2.8 tdi (Brazilian?) engine to a 300tdi.
It has the same power as the TD5 but without the electrical concerns?

Nah, I think you are upgrading.

I would be OK, the basic electrics to get the 300 running would not be hard really.

But what about the electronics that would remain on the TD5, not the engine related stuff, but all the rest???

this was what i was thinking , along with engine and gearbox mounting.
it would be nice to know as an engine conversion to a 300tdi must be cheaper than a td5 engine replacement

It would just be the engine ECU that would have to be changed/tinkered with wouldn't it? The other ecus are relatively independant aren't they.
