Hi all if my 138 k disco has no guts on hills could it be due to the exh manifold gasket leaking I e the turbo not getting the power it needs . Ta lee

It can be due to several things; split hoses to and from the turbo, leaking fuel pipes giving air in the lines.

Worse case your pump's faffed, but there's alot to check first...

Most people put a piece of clear plastic tube or small clear filter pod in the fuel line in the engine bay to see if there are air bubbles in the fuel line from the lift pump to filter then to the injection pump.

You should have a mechanical lift pump attached to the side of the engine.
This pumps into the fuel filter.

I'd start with changing the fuel filter anyway, and also disconnect and bypass your lift pump. If the engine runs OK with just the injection pump pulling fuel, yourlift pumps had it, or you've sorted your air leak.

turbo spins from start up but boost if produces isnt effective till around 1800 ,pumps do wear ,poor starting ,reduced power are symptoms

check waste gate isnt stuck open or rod come off ,pipes from turbo housing to waste gate acuator and to injection pump are good ,as well as good clean airless fuel ,sender unit under panei in rear floor pipes rust ,one neares passenger side is feed and needs to be good other not so important but would leak fuel ,sedimentor rot letting air in or get blocked best bypassed as not needed, lift pump often fail ,clear plastic pipe etc
