Following on from my other thread about water pump replacement.

Got a query I have been meaning to post for a while.

What is the normal position of the needle on the temperature gauge, it has always run at about the 8 o'clock position, which always seems a bit low. I would have expected it to run in the 9 o'clock position.

depends on vehicle ,its a guage not an exact instrument ,but varying from its normal running position is worth checking, new rads ,thermostats can alter position some

Guys thanks for the responses, has done about 4k since we bought it and had a coolant change about 2k ago and pretty sure I got the system bled.

I may well pick up a new thermostat and change that when I do a service in a couple of weeks.

I am also tempted to ditch the viscous fan in favour of an electric one, what is the general thoughts on that mod .

Good mod. Will increase power, reduce fuel consumption although not by any huge margin. Other advantage is that you can make sure the fan is off if you wade to keep bay cleaner.
