Just put pipe back on to turbo and repeated the test, but with no air filter in. Glove just sits on tick over, rev engine and glove deflated, but doesn't get sucked in to the pipe as it did before.
yes that is the question, if filters and hose ok likely its ok
This is bloody frustrating!
Checked pipes and all nice and clear. Put everything back together, sir filter back in. Did one final test and it's no longer sucking the glove in
On a positive note, I reckon I can say my crank case pressure is ok and that's not causing a back up of oil through the turbo.
So, I reckon I've still got a problem with the turbo outflow pipe. I think is must be the problem with my turbo passing oil.

I guess you have seen all this

Thought I'd try a couple of experiments. Thought I'd take turbo outlet pipe off, tape dome white paper on the Inner wing, rev the engine and see what came out. I was then hoping to repeat the same thing, but with the turbo oil drain pipe disconnected and feeding in to a bottle.
Undoing the turbo outlet pipe reveals oil build up.

I taped some paper in

Pushed it down in front of turbo outlet and fired her up. Revved the engine, but nothing appeared. So I took her for a quick spin. 3/4 of a mile out of the village and back.

Oil spatter on the paper

And oil sprayed on the turbo outlet pipe, which I had fastened up over so it wouldn't suck the paper in.

So, I need to test it with the oil outlet pipe disconnected from the block. I don't fancy driving it like that though as I don't know how much oil it's going to pass through in to the catch can I rig up. I suppose I could take spare oil with me and check it at the 3/4 mile turn around point.
EDIT
Ran out of time tonight, but will try with oil outflow pipe off tomorrow.

Couldn't work out a way of having a catch can under the outflow pipe. It's really tight for space there on the 300Tdi. The outflow pipe is short and inflexible, so you can't bend it to reach a catch can. Result is that I can't very easily do that test. :( However, I think I've proven that I haven't got crankcase pressure pushing the oil back up to the turbo.
It's a brand new outflow pipe and it looks as though it's installed without a kink it in now. It's not a very wide pipe though. So, all I can think to do is find a bigger diameter pipe. No idea if they are available! Or, custom make on or get one custom made!
I'm running out of options and starting to run out of ideas. :(

About 3 bar when hot. 3.5 bar when cold.

That seems low to me - from when SWMBO's 300 oil pressure switch let the oil out, and I fitted a gauge till a new switch arrived - pressure cold at high RPM was 60 psi, so 4 bar - I don't know the relief valve pressure setting, but isn't it about 70psi ?

I'm almost hoping I've got those figures wrong, cos they don't help o_O - unless the "missing" pressure is going to the turbo and causing the problem ?

I'll check the pressures in the morning to make sure I've got them right.
Wasn't the pressure regulator, mentioned in earlier posts, set at 40psi? So even 3 bar is higher than that.

it would need to hold 7 litres and wouldnt be long filling so best you havent tried it

Yep, that's the conclusion I came to !
Does it not take the engine oil pressure?/

Cheers
I presume they must be able to cope with a range of pressures. So I'm now obviously wondering if my engine is producing a higher oil pressure than the range the turbo can cope with?

obviously not 4 bar isnt high and your not there the vm turbo runs at 90psi
