Thinking of getting a Disco 2 V8, so looking at selling my D1. 300Tdi prices are all over the place at the moment. What do you think a fair price is for the following vehicle in a private sale:

Runs well and used as my daily commuter at the moment. Everything works as it should. Has been used occasionally off-road, but not rough enough to cause damage.

£50 :D

Seems prices have gone made since the snow, sounds like a good motor though so look at the prices in your area and add a bit for the extras.

You can have the box of service parts for £50!

How does £2,500 sound?

Sounds steep :eek::eek:

If you want to make £2500 for your disco I would look at stripping what you can and selling the parts separately.

Sell the car on its own for about £1500 - possibly £2000 and make up the rest with the spares

To be honest, I simply dont know what it's worth therefore posted an idea of a price based on the FR's advice.

It would be a shame to strip it, and I'd probably take around 2k for it as is...

Thanks for the advise.

Hey, the point of this thread was to get an idea of a value.

I'm not just another lurker, I've been using and contributing to this forum for quite some time.

stop whinging, it's worth what someone will pay for it - which is usually about a grand less than what peeps expect to get for it

I think you've just answered you're own question there, most people who know Disco's will look beyond the extra's and worry more about the Disco itself and probably not offer much more than £1300 - £1600. Now if you manage to lure a LR noob who's thinking they need one for the "rough weather" then you might just get £2000 maybe a tad more if you dazzle them with the extra's.

As Bobbler said If you've got the original bumper's etc. might well be worth putting them back on and flogging the extra's separately.

Assuming the car is not rotten in all the normal places, a 163k ml 95' Disco is worth about £900, plus a bit more because you gotr two sets of tyres etc.

It would have to be absolutely mint to get £2000 and they never are.

If you get offered £1500 bite their hand off.

I guess it would depend where you are, i paid 2K for mine with various extras etc and was offered 2.5K the next day by a guy up the road.....

I'd ask for £3k and take a good offer, what have you got to lose?

Went to a well known auctioneers on Tuesday and was alarmed at the ultra-high reserve prices.

1996 P 300Tdi ES had a £1950 reserve and it was a shed. It didnt sell.

Plenty sold (clearly to non-traders) for silly money too...

Did see a 2000 V8i D2 go for £2500 which i thought was reasonable...

Non rusty Disco ? I dont believe it :D

Just bought a '95 TDI 300, and i paid £1100. The truck was in very good nick, but had the usual rust issues a the bottom of the door pilars and underside of the sills. Apart from that though it sailed through the MOT today and i have another year of motoring. I am just about to get her shot blasted and then sealed underneath which might give me a few more years of play time. Goodies are goodies for a reason. that reason is that us (we) know what they are, and if we know what they are then we probably have them. I was just looking at a defender with warn winch, 3 inch lift new spray job and rebuild from chassis up which i can get for 2200. Range diffs, snorkle and an up graded 300 engine. All that motor for £2200!!! You are not going to get much over £1800 if you sell the whole vehicle i think. However, if you break it up you will get your£2500.

Hope this helps

Nick
