Hi.
I have got a problem with my 300 TDI edc disco auto. It was running well but I had the trailer on the back and it seems to loose power when accelerating between 2800 and 3000 revues. It will just drop back to 2500 (never any lower) and only for a second or two then pick up. If I am going up a long hill it might do it 10 times. The auto box is changing down fine. It is just getting very annoying now. 25mph on the A17 is not good.
Any one got any ideas ?
Cheers Rob

I'm afraid it seems most discos suffer the same problem going up hills, mines the same, , just the sight of a hill gets my disco to downshift!! Lol... only thing I can suggest is to drop it into 2nd or 3rd and grin n bear the scowling stairs and honking horns from fellow motorists! !
As for the drop in revs, are you sure its not jst dropping due to being in high gear going up hill so naturally drops revs ornis it the same on flat roads???

Just took the disco out on a flat road with no trailer, it drives fine driving ``normal`` but as soon as I drive it harder (over 2500 revs) it holds back gets at about 2700-2800 then drops back to 2500 for about a second then back where it should be.

Turbo wastegate seized closed. When the edc ecu detects turbo overboost it cuts fuel for a short time. Mine does the same mainly with foot to the floor up hills. The wastegate is a pita to get to so waiting until I can take the inlet manifold off to try and wiggle it free. Hopefully don't have to take the whole thing off!

Hi there.
Thanks for the help. And chance of a pic of what I am looking for? Sounds like the same thing. As it is worse up hill. Is it one of the famous wd40 fixes lol
Cheers Rob

wd40 will be my tool of choice :)

Basically, feel around between the turbo and the engine block. There's an actuator towards the back of the engine bay, with a rod that should push the wastegate open when the turbo boost gets high enough. The rod pushes open the valve which is towards the front of the engine bay :)
