Hi

after a bit of advice.

Do 300 Tdi's burn oil, and if so how much should I expect. mine's done 144k, and is burning a bit is this normal.

Secondly, I have problems getting it into forth gear sometimes anyone else had this problem, and what is it.

Cheers

If your engine's in good nick it shouldn't use any oil. 144k isn't a .lot for a tdi that's been reasonably well looked after. A gearbox oil change often helps with difficulty selecting gears apparently.

1. Tdi 300's don't normally burn oil &

2. Notchy gearboxes can be improved with an oil change using good quality oil, but also check the spring plate on top of the gearbox, this can sometimes break causing gear selection problems.

Cheers

Chaning the oil in my gearbox loosened a whole ton of crap which then blocked the filter stopping all gears.

Just something to know about, if that happens just change it again, possibly giving a couple of weeks to sort its life out.
