a mate has just bought a disco 300tdi es.it broke down in september and has been unused since, the seller said that the clutch fork has broken so has no clutch.i went to look at it today and it hasn't been apart so i don't know how he knows the fork is broken, the clutch pedal is totally solid.it's up and hasn't dropped at all.i think it's something else, any ideas before we rip the box out to check the fork?

Common problem. The ball joint has worn through the clutch fork. Someone has then tried to bleed the system thinking its a hydraulic problem and its then gone solid.
If you think about it, apart from the master and slave cylinders which you could strip and check (and I have never heard of a cylinder seizing up) you only have the pedal linkages.
Everything else is in the bell housing so even if its not the fork, the box is coming out.
