OK She's weakening the Hippo might go.

I've just seen a nice green 300Tdi auto (I say this cos they didn't make a 200 auto, did they?) in the local 4x4 dealers. Don't know what reg yet as he's closed and the plates are off it.

It looks clean, has 111K showing and has the wood trim on the dash but cloth seats. It's got the big ugly Discovery transfer along the bottom of the doors.

It's £2995.

Does anyone have an opinion on the auto. What does a bad one sound like, What sort of mpg compared to a manual etc. I might go back tomorrow and see what he offers on the Hippo.

Excellent bit of kit, mine does everything,in the last 2 weeks it has carried my trials bike to a trial, pulled down an ash tree that is keeping the cottage warm right now, been to sainsberryeze and been thrashed around the west country carrying all my diagnostic kit.Oh,and the school run.(just to p-ss off the tree cuddlers)
Fuel consumption is not as good as a manual, but for towing,(esp trees and other dead LR's) it is much better than the horrid 5speed.
With good servicing and some thought to rustproofing they are VERY good value.
