If you would like to do the job 100 % perfect you use only diff casing from old diff.

ATB diff it's a complete part (looks the same like ARB lockers). Just need to fit crown wheel on it, and bearings on sides. Later you need to do a little diff "magic" and set proper backslashes with shims, preload on pinion ect. After all of that is ready to use.

This is how looks ATB/LSD diff insert for freelander

Bearings and crown wheel are placed.

And this is stock diff with crown wheel

you need to remove open internals, and place ATB,

Mechanical - no electrics, no air. This is torsen type diff, with helical gears. He "locks up" (but not to 100%) when needed ~ wheel in air. On normal road condition works like open diff.

TC helps to start locking it by brake spinning wheels. On car without it you need to brake slightly or use handbrake.

Great thanks for help just have to track down some parts now shame ya cant do anything with vc on prop

Thanks Winu. ;)
Now I've got to find the money to get one of these Quaife LSD's. AND someone to set it up for me too !! Just when I thought I'd spent enough on my rally Freelander.............

I wish people wouldn't post stuff on here that tempts me into parting with huge sums of cash...........
Oh, who am I kidding? If I don't spend it on my Freelanders , then the Missus will spend it on stupid stuff like food, clothes, electric/gas bills etc........

I have one of SES88's 40mm lift kits fitted. I currently have 215/60 R16 winter tyres on the FL, but will put some larger ones on at a later date. I also had Monroe camber pins fitted then that the whole car laser aligned. I also have 30mm spacers fitted.

Hmmm, you got ex- M-sport ? like in your avatar ?
Those have this feature IIRC

No , not an M-Sport, unfortunately. Mine was built by Tornado Motorsport. My Avatar is when they hoisted it up on a crane - just for fun !!
Standard diff , I think. I'll have to find out. I know it had a lot done to it - the roll cage is a work of art, more like a space frame really. There are lots of other unique parts like tubular wishbones as the front spring turrets were moved up and back by 13mm, so if I bend one I'll have to go back to Tornado and get another set made up.

So... if an LSD is available, is there anywhere that can make the rear diff to the correct ratio to give 50:50 front:rear drive ratio instead of this stupid fwd bias we have that shags everything up?
