Just a thought dont the later D4s come with something in the fuel cap/neck to stop misfuels? I think theres meant to be a tool in the car to reset it, where and what it looks like I have no idea!

Water in fuel could be what it says, have you tried to drain it since new filter fitted?

No idea. Never played with a D4 so this is all new to me. Cap looks normal? Guess there might be something further down. I need a RAVE diagram but it is all on the TOPIX thing, I think.

No! Good call though. Although only 5 years old. How much water could have got in? That's why I was suspecting electronics mixed up rather than actual problem. New filter has only been on there a few weeks.

Youtube video, the youtube guy mentions filling from cans can also trigger the misfuel device and if you do have water in the filter could explain both them two faults?

You should check that particular leak detection pump or the exposed wiring to it cos the open circuit fault code is a solid one, the O/C fault codes can't be triggered by other systems cos the circuit is monitored by the ECU with PWM signals

Lynall, give yourself a gold star. He'd put some diesel in from a Jerry can and the flap thingy had popped up so that's why he couldn't get fuel in. Couldn't find the tool anywhere on the car so bought one off eBay. A minute later and that was fixed!

In other news I think the fault codes are cracked. The sensor on top of the fuel filter was kaput. Replaced the sensor and the nasty messages have, so far, not reappeared. So hoping (fingers crossed) that it is fixed. We'll give it a few weeks and report back if any codes recur.
