Hey - Just picked up some roof rails for my 3 door 55 play Freelander.

I'm looking for locking cross bars, I'm not sure what foot pack to get.

I've been looking over the net and on the Thule site, and I have found a conflicting model numbers.

Could anyone help?

land rover part number CAC100162 is for cross bars only, for vehicles with factory fit roof rails, as long as your roof rails are genuine LR, (and I don't think any others are available as they have to line up with the mounting holes) they should fit.

they don't so much have a foot as a clamp arrangement, which closes and clamps around the rail.

these aren't genuine, and are rated at 60kg, against 75kg for genuine LR, but are cheap enough:

Maypole RB1000 Roof Bars For LandRover FreeLander 98-06 on eBay (end time 26-Jan-10 16:40:58 GMT)

both of these keep the bar and therefore load closer to the roof than those with taller legs (if that makes sense) which will help in reducing wind noise.

these are the genuine LR item, and priced accordingly:

these are genuine LR but used:

Freelander roof bars - genuine landrover roof bars on eBay (end time 10-Jan-10 15:22:44 GMT)

have the genuine LR ones myself, and they have put up with some almighty grief, with double extension ladders, along with 3 pairs of 12 tread steps, and all sorts on the roof.

you pays your money, you takes your choice, depends what your putting up there.

good luck.
