Right, the charity event now has a name, and papework is with the MSA.

Entry is £50 for a team of two.

Teams will need to raise "ideally" a minimum of £200 in sponsorship,
with the proceeds going to Alzheimers Society, Cancer Research UK and
Kidney Research UK.

All marques of 4x4 can take part, regardless of whether they have a
green oval or not!

The event starts early Saturday morning and finishes mid Sunday
afternoon.

An overnight rest has been arranged. This will involve camping in
tents or vehicles, as we are trying to keep costs down. A BBQ will be
provided on Saturday night.

The events consist of a navigational scatter on the road. Precise
details of the off road stages are being kept secret, but expect some
"different" stages, as well as some of the usual RTV stages. Co
drivers can drive road stages as well as the driver, but only the
driver may drive off road stages.

Expected distance is approx 300 miles over the whole weekend from
start point to finish point.

Sections have been designed so that standard 4x4s can compete.

Entry forms and supplementary regs can be found at:
http://www.peterborough4x4.btinternet.co.uk/4x4challenge/

I know its a long web address at the mo, but I am working to change it
to something better!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Failing that, I will be
at the Donington show on Sunday, look for GLASS and I will be there! I
will also have a raft of entry forms and regs with me!

I'll make my contribution - www.3cc.org.uk (a bit shorter).

Domain registered, can setup specific mail and web stuff as people
feel needed.

A post-event winddown/pint in the local would be a good feature.

email - it's only small. You could ftp it to the site if you like, or
leave it to me and I'll tart it up a bit - and put correct email
address in etc.

Hi Simon

Sounds like a good weekend. Just a quick question about the 300 mile trip.
Is it likely to be 300mile in a straight line, or a rond trip ending back
nearish to start?

300 mile from start to finish, with a kind of a loop so you are only
about 60 miles from the start by the time we finish.

Have you offered to do that for Warrens new site at all yet?

I'm sure it's shiny, but all the e-mail links are stuffed - you'd think he
doesn't want any more custom or something :)

To be honest Paul - he is turning far, far more work away than he's
taking on. He's currently booked solid for nearly two months.

This is a particular pain in the fecking arse for those of us who have
helped to get him where he is (false assertion though it may be) as
we've had to get our own hands dirty...

(Actually, rebuilding a couple of V8s has probably kept me sane over
the last few weeks - but the 'cost' in my time has been more than the
cost of a couple of brand new engines, I reckon.)

I noticed - although it did only take me 2 weeks to get a booking for a
service. I must have been lucky, or services are small enough work that he
doesn't have to book them that far out. You would notice the smiley on the
end of the statement.

Ah - but brand new engines never work - it always takes the blood sacrifice
for them to work properly :)

You know where I am if you fancy a coffee - call first etc., in case I
haven't had time to put my face on...

I just want to know how sooo much blood can be shed by changing a
couple of heads and manifolds... Oh, and how much coffee can be
drank, and how many "are you going to be long" comments someone can
take...

Oh, and the "YOU'RE NOT PUTTING THOSE IN THE WASHING MACHINE"
assertions concerning my otherwise pristine 101 Club overalls...
