3.9 V8 into 90 TD

Hi all,

I am a little stumped and to be honest confused about how to fix my current issue.

I am in the process of fitting a 3.9V8 into my 2.5TD.

I have a LT77 from a Disco but dont much fancy the gear lever in between the seats (and the work that goes with it) so i have a couple of options.

I just need clarification as i have searched and cannot find a definitive answer. My apologies if i have overlooked something.

Is an LT85 a direct swap for the LT77? I can move mounts but its prop shafts, Transfer box e.t.c i am concerned with.

Or

Will a series V8 Adapter plate suit the existing LT77?

I ask as these come up used whereas a defender adapter plate are a lot harder to find (and obscenely expensive new).

hi a series adaptor plate will fit but the correct way would be to get your disco lt77 v8 box converted to defender gearsticks then all will fit straight in the reposition the engine mounts to suit v8 the all hoses etc will fit straight on regards steve ps done a couple of these if you get stuck ring me on 01926 258894

The transfer box mounts should all be the same so your propshafts should be ok. I have a 3.9v8 coupled with an LT85 box and LT230 transferbox in my 90 and it works well offroad.
