I agree with Fett...

I had a simular prob when I rebuilt my SU's, I found that my air fuel mixture wasnt strong enough...

Try adjusting the air fuel mixture, as you have had the carbs apart....

could be two problems, first check engine earth leads etc, or maybe the starter/battery is a bit duff. have you adjusted the carbs as one does one side and one the other if memory serves? Or buy an edelbrock 500. much better.

I am slightly puzzled by the fact that one bank is doing one thing and the other something totally different. The way the inlet manifold is set up (as already discussed) makes it pretty unlikely to be carb related. Equally given the firing order one bank shouldn't be doing one thing and the other bank something totally different.

Have you taken the rockers off and checked valve timing (I know its not the most accurate way of doing it) to give you an idea whether everything is doing roughly what it should in that department or not.

Hi

No i have given up as a bad job i have got to the point it was ****ing me off and i have lost interest, I am in the middle of a couple of projects so this one has been shelved, i will no doubt start on it again and put some of the info which has been sent in to practice but when my 7 year old starts taking the the mick its time to move on,

Just a thought, and I'm no mechanic, but if you're only getting one bank, maybe the coil is not having chance to recharge, as the banks fire LRLRLRLR it's summoning up enough spark for one side then not sparking on the other, sparking, not sparking, sparking, not sparking.


Just a thought.

Nice theory and my be in the right direction but wrong on fact:doh:

My money is still on an ignition problem rather than carb though.
