Never a big Xr3 fan.. the early Cortina and Granada were my favourites. He also had a vauxhall Victor estate. Looked like a whale. But his Wolsey 16/60 ?? Was beautiful, jacked rear end, big fog lamps and a boot rack was all the rage on the late 70's and early 80's... Leather and real wood....:D

Ahhh to go back to the days of fixing cars without a laptop

I've had a quick google, but it's a minefield to all but seasoned Ford nuts.

Cologne was built for ze german market, Essex for uk.

But they seem to be all related in some way or t'other.

Frankly my dear, I really don't give a damn cos my Dad only had a 1.6 Tina Mk3.:(

Confusing read.. it stated it was used to replace the Essex engine.. but both carb and injected units but for many different applications..

Available as both.
I had an '83 Mk2 Granada 2.8 on carbs. The late Scimitars also had the same engine.
Same model Granada also came as 2.8i as did the Capri.
Some of the later granny's and Capri's? I had a mate who fitted a 1.6 gearbox onto a 2.0 capri, wheel spin magic!! But no top speed.. :p or was it the back axle:oops: I don't remember:(

My Granada was an ex Lincolnshire traffic car.
Leicestershire had the Mk2 2.8i as traffic cars on the M1 & A1.
Lincolnshire had one of the 2.8i Capris on evaluation shortly before Ford released them on general sale. I'm told it went rather well.
