When im driving like a normal old man style of driving my 2nd gear crunches, now if u doubble the cluch this doesnt happen any idea's or quick fixes.

as above ,and heres no quick fix ,gear box needs stripping to fix it 2nd gear synchro is usually first to go followed by 3rd etc,mr waldershelf advice is very good

Mine was the same, thought i was gona have to do the box.
However.... found out about ... Evolution1 box oil on the difflock site,
replaced my box oil with it and F*** me propper amazed was better within 1/4 of a mile now 7500 miles later its brill can change gear with one finger, a friend has also used it on his td5 and it worked on his too!
to confirm mine was baddddd when cold and better but not brill when warm :)
Good Luck

Would this help with worn synchro's though. Mine changes nicely when cold, it's only when it gets warm the synchro disappears on first to second changes?

Well i have dropped the revs when changing into second and it goes in fine. Ill try the oil and mine does it from cold to warm lol.. all the time it doesnt really bother me just the feeling is nasty hehe..

Hi waldershelf,
nothwest of sheff... dore an totley? lol
spose oil could do weird things as viscosity changes?
id say worth changing oil before stripping box, (even more so if not changed in a while) think norm box oil is lifed at 20K (evo1 is lifed at 40K)

i WAS amazed didn't think oil would have such a change.
Also the friend with the td5 put somthing else in caue it was cheaper to find it got worse.... so after much and then much more "F" ing etc bought evo1 and it sorted it within a few hundred yards of driving.
just so everyone knows ive nothing to do with the firm lol.

But again mine was bad on the sincro into second when cold got better when warm.

Dore and Totley :D I don't think so, wrong side of town.

I think I will have to save up and give the Difflock stuff a try.

Sorry my mistake... hummm im from up round Parsoncross / Foxhill way.
you wern't previously known as Tigger were you?
I recently found out a old friend of mine is into landrovers big time there but i moved away years ago an lost contact... just wondering lol

Anyhow...her indoors has pointed out that ive done 15,000 mile since i did the box oil(an transfer an diffs) so there you go with standard oil i'd be looking to change it in 5k, now im looking to get under an do it in 25K

My Doris is from Foxhill but I'm from further west, last stop before Manchester.

i had this with the r380 on my p38, it had done 189k though. managed to pick up new gear box that had covered only 6k from one that had been broken for parts. after that it was like a new car! loved it but hated the electrics
