Greigboy- no offense taken. You make an interesting point tho, yh wouldn't like to try pick my dads maserati or even his bosses e type... and they are from the same period...

The crane's when they left the factory were only tested to 1.25 tons and only intended for 1 ton. :5bbanghead:

kinda limits its use to engine movement at .6 of a ton.

humm...

Maybe have my business own it use it to advertise my business... (I can then justify to myself and accountants going to town on it financially.) (If i dont break down on the way there! )

Thank you everyone, you have given me much to think about.
Signing off for now, got some serious touring work for the next week or so...

Be sure what you are buying , as I dont recall the AA putting harvey frost cranes on their landrovers, and certainly not on a swb as it would overload the vehicles rear axle. using a harvey frost on a lwb (109) better on a 1 ton , was ok with UK type cars and vans if you ballasted the front you could handle some of the larger light commercials. Usually AA sub contracted any lift an tow work. HTSH

1.25 tonnes was probably ample for most things when it was new as your not taking the entire weight of the vehicle as the rear wheels are still on the deck, however I still wouldn't want to risk it on something that old nowadays.

Using it for company P.R is a good move though

Keep hold of this guy!

18 years old, just passed his test, runs a mega company and invests in collectables where cash is no object!

Would he like to sponsor LandyZone? :D

Sorry but sod him sponsoring LZ, I've got a nice little project on the driveway that could do with a bit of sponsoring. SWMBO is getting a little ****y about my spending on it.

My 2A is somewhat rustier than I expected, I have a pile of rust and some new bits that I ordered and some used bits from it. However its in the corner of my temperature controlled warehouse being repaired VERY slowly indeed. (It gets attention when I am in the country and can leave my EMD in charge.)

So things are happening, just painfully slowly...
