2a 1969 exhaust

i cannot get the new frontpipe to fit through the chassis crossmembers it must be the wrong one how many different front pipes is there or is the knack to getting it through

take some photos of it and of it not fitting (if you catch my drift) also what is the part no. what year and engine do you have ?

well paddocks list three different down pipes for the swb, one for petrol and two for diesel
for the lwb it lists five different pipes,3 for petrol engines including the 6 cylinder engine and two for the diesel.
so assuming you,ve got the right one wiggle the thing through and over the crossmember

I couldn't get my Series III paddocks exhaust to go in either, had to remove gearbox mount to get it in, plus a lot of knuckle scraping and swearing.

have you tried putting the landy on some ramps? i needed to put one of my exhaust down pipes through upside down and then twist it round, all very awkward and requires lots of swearing. the extra ground clearance from the ramps made it alot easier! i've just got a set of these:

if i remember rightly the down pipe went in like this:

as opposed to:
sh*tyblo**yf**k$%^£bast**d%&^£cr*p*****
that way just ends in tears!

i replaced my front pipe recently,whilst fixing my g/box.it goes in no sweat from inside when you have the floor and seat box out.:mil16:

I had the same problem. I had to bend the pipe and cut a bit off the end for it to fit!

Having literally just fitted a stainless steel exhaust to my 109 1982, try the following:
Front wheels on ramps or stands.
Pass the rear end of the front pipe up and on top of the gearbox
Turn the manifold end towards the front off side wheel
Wiggle the back of the front pipe over the geardbox mount
Tip the front end so it touches the floor and push the pipe back whilst inserting the manifold end up twixt the engine and chassis
I have spent all day faffing about changing this ****. It looks like it was designed by a bunch of 17 year old tech college students with the design brief "make an exhaust system incorporating as many twists as you can" and the caveat of "if any of you consider ease of fitment you will automatically fail yer O level metalwork."
Jesus H F***ing Christ!!! But I got it on. Got no knuckles, no f***ing sense of humour and ache all over. Good luck.
