215/70/16 or 225/70/16?

I was originally going to go for 205/80 R16 in BFG AT fitment.

I have settled on 215/75 15 to keep my original alloys and gone with Colway A/T.

Slightly off topic, but might be useful.

hehehe... any answers to a thread this size are much appreciated :) but I've no plans to lift my XEDI so will prolly stick with a 70 profile. Will do a search on the Colways tho... thnx

I just latched onto the opposing views on width and wondered if there's any reasoning behind them or whether it's just a yanks do everything bigger type thing.

Colways are no longer produced in the UK.... however, they are being made abroad and can be purchased through eBay. (£155 per set of 4)

I paid £99 for my set of 4 inc delivery (one off eBay ad).

I have run a set on a Discovery 2 and they have covered 30,000 with some tread remaining - will prob get 35 - 38,000 - not bad for £55 per corner in 18" fitment.

Steve

I run mine with 235/60 16 and car feels really solid and stable on the road and corners really nicely but still gives a nice pliant ride compared to 17s.

But then I don't offroad any further than grass or gravel....

Cheers

Rog

Two pics of my vehicle running 215/75 R15's.

One showing the tread pattern (11mm when new) and the other showing the slight lift that I have gained with the bigger size and deep tread pattern.

Steve
