2012 defender new 2.2lt engine?

2.2 when will landrover learn that a decent size engine is a major requirement for a lot of users eg as in Patrols and cruisers. About the only time they got it right was with the stage 1 V8 ( and into the 110) . Why not go with the american idea of a V8 diesel that goes onto 4cyl in the cruise ? JMHO
 
I think the problem is conforming to emissions standards. That's what forces many car manufactures to replace/update their engine offerings. If it wasn't for that, the same engines would be used in new cars for much longer.

I am surprised ABS won't be offered as standard. I'm sure I read somewhere a while back that ABS is a legal requirement for all new cars sold in Europe?

Cars are different than utility vehicles, defenders??
 
the "diesel" should not have got in there , its the V8-6-4 chrysler engines ie variable displacement , i think mercedes used the tech on a V12 as well ,
