A warm hello to you all, ( from a damp Wales)

I would like to know if any 200tdi 90's were made without heater plugs/glowplugs as standard? Or was it a common modification done to GPO vehicles?
We have an ex postoffice J reg 200tdi 90, new to us, and it has no heater plugs/glow plugs.

I have searched for info however the massive amount of info I have read has not answered the question.

Basically we are wondering if something is amiss or if our new trusty ex GPO is as God intended.

Many thanks,
Steve

never seen a tdi head with no glow plugs ,often there not wired up if truck has been converted to tdi ,they will start without them except for perhaps extreme cold

thankyou very much James you are a gent. It is kept in on the valley bottom of quite a cold area that is mainly in the shade this time of year and frost often doesnt get chance to thaw during the day, so the landy is often frozen for days at a time. I will monitor its starting performance as time goes by.

Many thanks once again for your time.

Steve

there will be plugs in the head (below injectors )or a place to put them ,wiring a switch and relay can be simple ,have a look

I'm intrigued. I've had my '92 110 tdi 200 from new and unlike the series III it replaced it doesn't seem to need to turn the key and hold it until the glow plug light goes out as with earleir models. I've always assumed it didn't have glow plugs.

later models use a timer relay instead which comes on with ignition so no need of holding key at that position before cranking

Just learnt something new! Checked the orignal owners manual and it does have glow plugs. Ignition on to position II for a few seconds and little orange lamp on display should come on for a few seconds. Never knew that.......
