Hi,
I have a small water leak and it appears to be coming from the bottom of the water pump.
When i open the reservoir tank there is still pressure. Do I need to replace the pump/gasket.
Or will it be alright to be left?

Thanks
Gary

If its leaking from the bottom it is probably coming from the water pump tell tale hole, which is telling you the water pump seal has worn out and requires a new pump.
A little pressure from the header tank is quite normal.

thanks
is it a simple enough job to do at home
i know i will need to remove the fan but is that it?

Disco or def engine, both are diy jobs
BUT you have to be very careful removing the three bolts that form a triangle pattern as they go though the pump, timing case and into block and if not been greased can snap off, causing all sorts of extra work to get the remains out.
Looking from the front of the car they are the top right hand three bolts

Oldest trick in the book is to give them a few sharp taps with a hammer square onto the bolt heads, then carefully try to undo them.
If they obviously arent going to come undone K-seal is very good, mate used it on his mitsu 2.8 water pump and it wasnt leaking 2 years later when he sold the car!
