200tdi urgent help please?

200tdi now wont start?
Got in it this morning and started fine then run lumpy. Got down the road and no power, would not rev over 2000rev with foot to floor.
Then was just running lumpy on tickover, Now will not tick over at all?
But it is almost there and black smoke out the back.
Had all the injectors out and are fine.
Had the fuel lines off the top and nothing comeing out now.
Fuel filter fine.
Would the pump fail in this way?
Any help would be recived with great thanks

Is that the one under the boot floor ?

no, the one on the side of the engine.
whip the output pipe off and spin it over, fuel should spurt out.

Im guessing these are a comman fault then?

could be..
as said above, undo the line, at the fuel filter, that comes from the lift pump.....crank it over and you should get fuel all over the place.. if you dont... its the lift pump knackered.

If I do that and I do get fuel everywhere what would be the 2nd thing to be looking at?

judging by the black smoke, next thing would be blockage in airways... but check the lift pump first
