Ok there are a few bits on my 200tdi engine i'm not 100% sure about which hopefully will be very easy for someone to answer.

For some reason the 200tdi engine is the hardest engine to find downloadable guides for... yes i've searched all the ususal places and can get one for anything but the 200tdi.

Apologises for lack of pictures too.

Anyway,

1. On top of the radiator (drivers side) there is a small pipe connection - is this for a air breather? I've got the water + oil cooler connected but not sure what the final point is for.

2. Middle of the engine just to the left there are two different 'holes' which could have hoses connected to them - one is connected close to the rocker house covering and is a black plastic thing (assume breather?) and the other is a bit below this.

3. On the lower radiator pipe there is a smaller pipe which comes off it but has no where to go - what should this attach to? I will just bung it up if its got no purpose but assume originally it had a purpose?

Expansion tank pipe

Oil breather connected to air filter box

Bottom of expansion tank

You've replied before i even found a picture :) Thanks!

Just to clarify point 2 though...

Both of these bits need to go to the air filter then?

Does the expansion tank become pressurised if its connected to the main radiator pipe? On the series it was just a plastic bottle bascially, i assume this won't work as well for the 200tdi then?

What Sirus said - with pics of 1) and 2) :D

It's not, its a combination of the angle i took the photo and the way i flipped it in paint... but it confused me too!

Off to eBay for an expansion tank then, cheers

Hmm, ok your pics have actually confused me a bit now.

So, radiator connects to expansion tank fair enough... but what about the smaller diameter pipe coming up from the bottom radiator pipe? Is that connected to the black cylindrical thing in your photo. If so what is that?

And your photo would suggest that you have a pipe connecting from what looks like the brake system across to the lower of the two breather points on the engine???

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

The pipe from the lower radiator outlet goes to the underside of the expansion tank - disconnected in my pic,
As Sirus said - is connection for brake servo.
Black cylinder is PAS reservoir - from 19j set-up

Brilliant, thanks, really appreciate both yours and Sirus's quick and clear response :)

Cheers - got one off fleebay for £10 :)

to conclude the amazing assistance... don't suppose you know the diameters of the top radiator pipe (internal dimensions) and to a much lesser concern, the connections on the intercooler... i forgot to measure them before i left home this morining and off to a hose shop shortly

Well - i measured the top rad hose then didn't write it down 35mm rings a bell?

Now if you had asked last week I could have gone and measured it for you. But as its hust been refilled with antifreeze :p:p:p

Pah! and here i thought LZ was a supportive willing community ;)

No problem i'll go buy what i need now and do the radiator hose later.

I was meant to have this finished by Friday night... don't think it's going to happen some how, haven't really started the wiring yet, exhaust is in two halves awating a bit to arrive, no expansion tank yet, no hoses yet... not looking hopeful :(

I believe the part no is NRC 9726 but couldn't say off hand what the dimensions are.
Rad top hose (200tdi) is NTC 4895 - but again, no idea what dimensions
Landy is 6 miles away, unfortunately, or would measure them.
I think intercooler bottom outlet elbow was 51mm - see pic.
Top one was adapted from my existing 19j set-up - pic
There are ready made kits available from Steve Parker and others
:D

Its annoying int it when you aint got the bits to hand. A couple of hours work seems to drag on and on. :(:(

Cheers - i'll double check at home - think i'm going to leave out the intercooler for now anyway and add it at a later date, it only adds performance - something i'm not desperate for!

Tell me about it  Only time i get to do the 'research' side is at work, too much other stuff to do at home than sit at the computer.

Can't access it from work, but will have a look later, thanks Bob - and so many people say you are a useless waste of space ;)
