Hi all new to the forum but have a little problem:

Had a day out green laning last weekend in my Disco 200tdi and on the way home my oil light came on and stayed! It went off when I tried it after it had cooled down again, but turned it off just incase!

Its got oil in it, so had a manual gauge on it today and was only at 13psi when warm at idle speed, and only 28psi when warm at about 3k rev's!

Does anyone know what the pressure should be, I was expecting much higher psi levels?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Craig

Workshop manual says 25- 55psi with engine warm at normal operating speeds.you could try changing the oil if it hasn't been done for a while and see if that helps.

Thanks for that, that’s a bigger variance than I was expecting, only changed the oil about 500 miles ago so might just be an electrical issue. Will try cleaning the switch connections and run it again to see if the light comes back on. Thanks for the help.

My dads lights been messing up for ages, First it was coming on as engine got warm, now its constant, but theres oil, pressures fine, we did a change this weekend with no change, we're thinking the senders knackered

Right, changed the oil pressure switch and all seems to be well. Only cost about £4.00 and took about 10mins to change. Hope its sorted it, thanks for the replies.

Yea, easy enough to get to, a little bit of oil will dribble out but thats about it. I had to get an adjustable on it as its a little bit tight.

Done about 250 miles now and my one still seems fine:D
