Hello,

I've managed to slightly over fill my 200tdi with engine oil (being impatient waiting for it to drain into the sump) and its burning the oil off quite nicely (blue smoke on first start and a little lumpy) but I'm a bit stumped as to how. I have a catch tank in place which is empty, and the turbo isn't passing any oil, so how has it got into my cylinders, and more importantly, how has it got into my boost pipes and intercooler? I cleaned the intercooler out a few months ago, so I know that its clean. The bores and valves are really good, a recent leakage test proved that, the catch tank is empty and the turbo isn't passing any oil. How is it getting in there?

Thanks

Engine breather into the air intake.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm, I did not write 'my catch tank is empty' for no reason Mr Oddie ..........:D I have an oil catch tank spliced into the pipe between the cyclone breather and the air intake! It's empty, so no oil has been drawn in through the breather pipe, hence the reason why I am baffled. There is oil in the intercooler pipes, but the turbo is not passing any oil either, so it's either been pumped out into the intake manifold from the engine somehow or my turbo is playing silly buggers with me!

I dunnooo

Is it a riddle? I know.....You overfilled the FUEL TANK slightly with engine oil! :D:D:D

What do i win?

Oil getting passed the rings (Due to the increased pressure, as there is to much oil in there?)?

Just a stab in the dark ;)
