200Tdi injection pump repair

I've had a look on various forums and it does seem that the Disco one will work. I emailed Diesel Bob last night and he quoted me £325 - £375 + VAT to refurbish mine so I might have to end up doing that, it's a bit cheaper than buying an exchange recon pump from most places. I think I'd rather do that than spend £150 - £200 on a used one from Fleabay that could break in 6 months, even if the seller is honest. I'd consider buying a used one from someone on LZ if they know it's in good nick though.

id agree with going for refurbish,you know it would be right , any used one though possibly quite good and may have many miles in it is still going to be 20 years old

I know it's the best option, but I'm a tight fisted git, and just took out all my credit union savings to do some good stuff to the defender, like new doors and body cappings, and it looks like I may have to forego those to keep it running, especially since the MOT work is costing me a few quid - like 4 (yes, FOUR!) new brake calipers and a gearbox crossmember. It sounds like a bit of a moneypit, but it's generally been reliable in the 5 years I've owned it, and was rebuilt by the previous owner on a galvanised chassis, so I'm keeping it!

over the years not such a dear form of transport
 
watty, im about to change my pump (as mine too is fooked)

I got one off ebay for £20 (auction style), i figured it worth a punt as if it doesnt work itll still be worth that to someone who can refurb it.
I have a set of the timing tools if you want to borrow them, or pop to mine and we can do it there and then.

If you do have a 200tdi pump, and you know it's good, I'd still be interested in buying it from you, I now know the Disco one will work..
There's one on ebay at the moment but I don't know whether to trust the seller or not, especially since they said they haven't had time to photograph the actual one they're selling!

Oh I'm going up to Glasgow next week.im.not sure where abouts you are but I could drop off the timing tools if you need to borrow them
 
doing some work there for the day, but might be working there more permantently soon.

The £30 ones work perfectly well :) No need to spend any more on a set.
