Hello all,

First post here as I've just found a Defender that looks pretty good and been brousing this site for info.....there's plenty.

The 1989 Defender 90 I've found has a 200tdi Disco engine fitted and I wondered if this is a good thing? What are the advantages/disadvantages to this?

The seller has been running it for over three years and has had no problems.

Any views of advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

YES! It's a brilliant thing. The 200TDi engine (particularly the disco version over the defender version) is the best engine you could put into any Land Rover. It's extremely reliable, very nippy, cheap to run and easy to maintain. The disco version has slightly more torque than the defender version. In fact, many people favour the 200TDi over the later 300TDi ;)

Cheers Sirus, Pos and Jamescronin,

Thanks for the replies. I guess I can only hope its been done properly. Is there any other questions I should ask the seller?

Thanks
